27 April 2026 – Cary, North Carolina — Lincoln Technology Solutions (LTS) today announced the debut of its 7” RGB Mini-LED Full Array Local Dimming (FALD) display, an early prototype representing what is believed to be the world’s first RGB Mini-LED implementation in a compact form factor. The technology will be showcased at SID Display Week 2026, the premier global event for display innovation.
Designed to push the boundaries of visual performance in small-format displays, the LCD391-070 prototype combines RGB Mini-LED backlighting with high zone-density FALD, delivering true HDR capabilities traditionally reserved for larger premium displays.
A New Class of Compact HDR Displays
Unlike conventional white Mini-LED backlights, LTS’s RGB Mini-LED approach enables precise color control at the backlight level, unlocking:
- Deep contrast with true black HDR performance
- Reduced halo and minimized blooming
- Expanded color fidelity reaching up to 90% BT.2020
- High brightness up to 1000 nits for challenging lighting environments
This advancement brings premium HDR and wide-gamut performance into a 7-inch format, opening new possibilities for applications where both size and visual precision are critical.
Engineered for Real-World Applications
Built on a Chip-on-Board (COB) architecture with multiplexed LED driving, the prototype reduces system complexity while enabling a thinner, more efficient module design.
The display is optimized for:
- Broadcast field monitors and camera-mounted displays
- Portable medical and diagnostic devices
- Industrial and mobile control systems
- Automotive and rugged embedded applications
Its compact size, high brightness, and enhanced contrast performance make it particularly suited for environments where users must interpret visual data quickly and accurately under varying lighting conditions.
